Weekly Roundup
Hi Ayodele here,
Across Africa, governments are taking practical steps to prepare their people for an AI-driven future. South Africa is starting in the classroom, Ghana is building capacity within government, and Burkina Faso is making sure AI speaks local languages. Together, these steps reflect a broader move to make AI more accessible, practical, and inclusive for everyday use.
Let us get into it. In this edition:

I am happy to share Intellery Newsletter’s first partnership 🥳.
We are partnering with Ziti Group, a tech training and talent resourcing company focused on empowering African talent, particularly in AI and emerging technologies.
As part of this partnership, Intellery and Ziti will host quarterly AI-focused webinars designed to help more Africans build practical skills in the AI era.
Our first webinar will focus on Vibe Coding. The session will explore how people can move from idea to a basic prototype using AI tools.
If you are curious about building with AI or exploring what is possible with Vibe Coding, this session will be valuable.

Around Africa
South Africa to sign AI and digital skills deal with Google
South Africa’s Department of Higher Education is set to sign a strategic agreement with Google to integrate AI and digital skills into the national curriculum. The deal aims to equip thousands of students and educators with the technical literacy needed for a modern, AI-driven economy.
By embedding these skills directly into the public education system, the government hopes to reduce the digital divide and lower youth unemployment. This partnership also includes support for local tech hubs to foster home-grown innovation. It marks one of Google’s most significant educational investments on the continent to date. This initiative is a core part of South Africa’s broader Digital Transformation agenda.
Why it matters
Digital literacy is this time and age longer optional; it is the new baseline for employment. By partnering with a global giant like Google, South Africa is ensuring its workforce isn't just using AI, but building it. This move creates a direct pipeline from the classroom to the high-tech job market.
Ghana launches national AI training program for public sector
The government of Ghana has officially kicked off a nationwide AI training program specifically designed for civil servants. The initiative seeks to modernize public administration by teaching government workers how to use AI for data analysis and policy simulation. By automating routine tasks, the program aims to significantly reduce bureaucratic delays and improve service delivery for citizens. The training will cover everything from ethical AI use to practical automation tools like chatbots for public inquiries. This project is a key pillar of Ghana’s Smart Governance strategy. Ultimately, the goal is to turn the public sector into a laboratory for digital innovation.
Why it matters
Government efficiency is often the biggest bottleneck for national growth. Ghana is betting that a smarter civil service can process permits, manage healthcare data, and respond to citizens faster than ever before. It’s a bold step toward making the state run at the speed of the private sector.
Burkina Faso integrates national languages into AI strategy
Burkina Faso has announced a new national AI strategy that prioritizes the integration of indigenous languages into digital platforms. The government plans to develop localized Large Language Models (LLMs) that support languages like Mooré, Dioula, and Fulfuldé.
This move is designed to ensure that the benefits of AI are accessible to all citizens, including those in rural areas who may not speak French. By focusing on linguistic diversity, the country aims to preserve its cultural heritage while embracing modern technology. The strategy also includes funding for local startups to build AI tools tailored to the Burkinabè context. It represents a significant push for digital sovereignty and inclusive innovation.
Why it matters
AI shouldn't have a language barrier in this age. By bringing Mooré and Dioula into the AI fold, Burkina Faso is ensuring that tech serves the people, rather than forcing the people to adapt to the tech. This is digital inclusion in its truest form is about making sure no citizen is left behind because of the language they speak.

Anthropic Expands "Computer Use" with Claude Code and Cowork
Anthropic has launched a major expansion of its computer use capabilities, moving beyond simple chat to active desktop control. The new “Cowork" feature allows Claude to navigate your operating system, move files, and execute multi-step workflows across different applications just like a human teammate. Combined with "Claude Code," which operates directly in the terminal to manage entire codebases, Anthropic is positioning its AI as an autonomous agent that doesn't just suggest work but actually performs it.
ByteDance Integrates Dreamina Seedance 2.0 into CapCut
ByteDance has officially rolled out its next-generation AI video model, Dreamina Seedance 2.0, directly into the popular editing app CapCut. This update allows creators to generate high-fidelity, cinematic video clips from simple text prompts or static images with improved temporal consistency. The new model excels at maintaining the identity of characters and objects across multiple shots, solving a major flickering issue found in earlier AI video tools.
Google Gemini Now Supports Direct Data Imports from Rival Chatbots
Google has introduced a new Data Transfer feature that allows users to migrate their entire chat histories and personal preferences from other major AI assistants directly into Gemini. This tool is designed to break down the walled gardens of AI, making it easier for users to switch platforms without losing their established context or memory. By importing past interactions, Gemini can instantly align with a user’s specific writing style, project history, and learned preferences from day one. This move is a strategic play by Google to lower the barrier for users looking to leave competitors like ChatGPT or Claude.

The Collapse of Terminal Value: Chamath Palihapitiya argues that AI is about to dismantle the philosophical foundation of capital markets. If AI lowers the cost of disruption so much that no business moat is safe, markets will stop paying for future growth and reprice every company based solely on immediate cash flow. This shift would crash equity valuations, kill venture capital as we know it, and force a massive rotation of wealth into the physical world in terms of land, energy, and gold.
